CarpeDiem129 38 Posted November 3, 2017 (edited) So this is my first main post although I've been "creeping" these forums for quite a while now. I'm scheduled for surgery on Wednesday, Nov. 8th. I know my surgeon uses a 36f bougie and I am also having a small hiatal hernia repaired. I have some reflux issues now, but other than that and my weight along with suffering from hypothyroidism, my health is fine. I have researched this for many months, went through the whole process, and now that it's happening, I'm so worried. I keep thinking about my husband and my babies and if anything goes wrong now or later regarding the surgery. Anywho, I don't know what I'm really looking for by posting this. Maybe some words of wisdom or a swift kick in the booty to get over myself. Really, I would love to hear about experiences who have gone through the exact same thing, surgery with the same bougie size as it seems like there may be some merit to bougie size and recovery and hiatal hernia repair. How are you doing? How was your recovery? Any advice at all? Just feeling a little overwhelmed.😩 Edited November 3, 2017 by Lauren_jos19 Misspelled word 1 LylaLovesCoffee reacted to this
barwick411 4 Posted November 5, 2017 My surgery is also scheduled for November 8th and I also suffer with hypothyroidism. Actually, my thyroid levels have been out of whack for about 4 months and my doc keeps changing my dosage. Nothing changed but thyroid decided to give me fits! I have been very excited through this whole process - it ended up being 7 months from start to surgery- but now that I am 4 days away, I am starting to feel anxious. I know I am doing what is best for me and my health and ultimately my family; however, all of the "what ifs" have crept in. So, you aren't alone! We've got this! Tomorrow is a new day! Look forward to talking to you after our surgeries. 1 LylaLovesCoffee reacted to this
dreamingsmall 1,125 Posted November 6, 2017 (edited) I've heard it doesn't matter what size your bougie is. In rates of success. What matters is sticking to the plan.I don't know about hernia repair but recovery is most likely the same for wherever boogie size ..Not an expert though. But as you are just looking for your size I won't answer my experience as mine is 32. Good luck nerves are normal it's not easy the process but for me worth it. JeffN 106 Posted November 6, 2017 Hang in there, it is normal to feel the way you do, I did and I am what you would call a big bear. I was diagnosed with hypothyroid 15 years ago and nothing worked for me except my sleave. Follow your Dr.'s advice and you will be fine. FYI eight weeks out and I am no longer on any medication, none, nada and zip! I feel great and my energy is through the roof. The key is to follow your Dr's advice and use this site for your support. No one can tell you how this plan will work for you they can only share with you what works for them. Good luck and keep coming back. 1 Cmfitz reacted to this
