Stretching of the stomach

Recommended Posts

liquids are incapable of stretching the stomach, ever.

Liquids do not remain in our stomachs long enough to do any damage. They quickly enter the small intestine via the pyloric valve at the bottom of the sleeved stomach.

The only way a sleeved stomach can stretch is by continually overeating past one's limits over a prolonged period of time (read: overeating daily for several months in a row).

Is it possible to stretch your stomach out from drinking water/liquid too quickly? Big gulps?

I think it just makes you want to vomit. I know my Dietician told me anything with bubbles (alch/ mineral water/ sodas diet or otherwise) with gasses will jeopardize the sleeve and stretch it in time.

So I guess following the advice of going slow and cutting out bubbles would be what I would recommend!

I don't think that drinking too fast will stretch out your stomach, but I would slow down nonetheless. If you are thirsty, you are still going to drink the Water whether you drink it all in 5 seconds or 5 minutes. It isn't worth causing harm to yourself, so you should take your time. When I workout, I drink every few minutes. That way, I stay hydrated and don't feel the need to gulp down water.

You haven't updated your profile information or given any information in your post about how far out you are. I would suggest doing either, as it would help others at giving you the best possible information/advice. If you were only a few weeks out, you would probably get a much different response than if you were nine months out so having that information is very important.
