Companion Person BariatricPal MX

Recommended Posts

I have a question for those who've already had surgery with Dr Illan at the new BariatricPal hospital location. My sister is going as my companion person and will not go out without me to get food-she is not adventurous and is a very anxious person. While we are still at the hospital, is there a way for her to get meals that doesn't involve her leaving with the driver?

Yep. My mum has been ordering all her meals while we are here and they’re either delivered here by the restaurant or picked up by one of the staff here

And in case you’re worried or anything there’s literally double security 24/7. Too much I would say [emoji4]

I'm not worried at all, but my sister's boyfriend will be happy to hear that!

Has anyone gone to Mexico alone? My husband is NOT supportive and I am going through the process anyway. I have my own money so that's not a problem. I'm mostly worried about my belongings being safe while I'm in surgery. Also I only speak English.

Dont bring expensive things, you wont need them. I went to BariatricPal MX and they have a small safe in each hospital room and everyone speaks English there. You are all good [emoji4]

Hi UndercoverDiet.... I will be :) from what I understand a large majority of BariatricPal MX patients travel alone and are women.

Once I get to my "room" I'll be putting my passport, purse and cell phone in the safe. I'll also be bringing a small carryon suitcase which has a lock, and everything else I have will just stay in that. But just as another person said, don't bring too many other valuables with you....

From what I've read, many are happy to go alone, so they can focus on themselves. You will do great!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
