Post Op Day 6 Weight Gain

Recommended Posts

I am 6 days out from surgery, and have been loosing about a pound a day. Until this morning, I weighed myself this morning and was +1.3 pounds. Is this normal? I know your body can fluctuate weight daily, but still a pound and a half gained??

Don't worry about that at all Killian. I weighed myself everyday since surgery as well and I was down every day, then the other day it said I went up 2lbs, today when I went on the scale I was down 3. Weight fluctuation happens to everyone which is why they suggest we only weight ourselves once a week (although that is tough to do). You will see it come off.

Totally fine - this might be a Water and some bowel mass piling up. You will dump that in a couple of days for sure :)

Don't check your scale on daily basis - do that once per week, on the same day, same time - just as jcb123 suggested.

Just pretend this is not your poo, but your "inner spirit"! :)

Update 1/14/18: I am down to 216, just 6 pounds away from being out of the "Obese" category! I find that the sleeve prevents me from over eating, which is exactly why I chose this surgery. It is performing as advertised. I just have to control what it is that I eat. I can easily get down a slice of pizza, but two? Won't even attempt it. And the beauty part is, I don't want that second piece. One slice, and I am done, satisfied. But that does not happen often, as I tend to eat right and make healthy choices because I feel a whole hell of a lot better.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
