November sleevers here

Recommended Posts

Just over three years ago I met with my personal trainer, Erin, for the first time. During that first session she asked me what one thing is that I would love to be able to do, but can’t due to my size. My response..... ride roller coasters again! She promised to help me get there as long as I put in the work, and that she’d go with me when the time came. So here we are this morning heading to King’s Island to conquer them all! This amazing lady supports me, encourages me, and kicks my ass with her workouts. She even took the time to learn about sleeve surgery so that she would know the best way to help me afterwards.

Don’t get discouraged! We have all come a long way. Just remember that these stalls are completely normal and they will pass. It is most definitely frustrating, but don’t let it stress you out. Stress can actually cause wait gain, so we make it worse when we do that! Lee your head up, stick with the basics and it will al work out! You are doing amazing!

If you have not gained you are maintaining. Go back to basics immediately. Remove any complex foods that you didn't eat at stage 4 (the stage when you first started eating real foods again) make all super clean and simple. I was stuck for a month, did it (plus increased my Water seriously and stopped eating after 9pm) and im finally losing again.

That's not a personal trainer, that's a friend...

Absolutely! She has become one of my dearest friends, and I don’t know what I would do without her. =)

NSV I want to share - I went out for brunch with friends on Sunday morning and I ordered a healthy little side dish even though I realllllly wanted a big ass omelette. But I made a commitment to stop eating out as much and to only order something really small if I have to eat out. I'm really proud of the choices I've been making lately!

I have a weigh-in today and I'm really nervous about it. They want me to be under 231 by today and at my home scale, i weighed in at 229! But I know the doctor's scale is a few pounds off and might say i'm at 231. I need to not stress about it. I should be really proud of the progress I've made instead of beating myself up for "only" losing 11 pounds in the last 2 months. Any words of encouragement or advice for worrying less about the number on the scale?

Had a weigh-in yesterday on my 9-month surgiversery - happy to report that I've lost 81 pounds in total (including my pre-op weight loss) and met the 9-mos goal my bariatric team set for me! Over the next 3 months, they want me to lose another 15-20 lbs. It feels daunting but I know I can do it as long as I keep up the new habits I've adopted over the last year.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
