I went to pureed foods with chunk at 2.5 weeks instead of 4. I eat super slow and chew the heck out of my bites and it works for me. Not that I would go out and recommend it to anybody, I mean, it is called cheating!

I think of 'cheating' in terms of partaking of forbidden/bad food choices rather than advancing the stages. I realize the swelling and healing prohibits eating dense food early for good reasons - don't risk damaging the sleeve. The two examples posted so far are just advancing sooner, most likely based on the individual's tolerance this first week with just liquids.

I am 5 days sleeved, today I did stick blend then strain a chicken vegetable Soup, thinned it w Bone Broth. Cream soups/milk products are week 2 and puree for my plan is week 3, soft mushy week 4. I am tolerating an 11oz 30gr shake in 15 minutes and on no pain meds since Thursday.

I just want to caution everyone.. advancing too rapidly can potentially cause a leak. (Not picking on any of these examples specifically.. but just a general warning).

While the stomach is healing, it is vulnerable. Better safe than sorry!

Well as for me, there is no way I am going to put anything remotely solid or dense in there until I am supposed to. My strained/blended Soup had no noodles or anything like that - mostly some carrots and a couple green Beans. As much as some tuna sounds sooo good I am not a gambler. I will suffer the the damn Protein Drinks as long as required - besides I already bought them, may as well consume them.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
