4 days post op and having severe forearm pain in the arm that had the IV. The IV was in my hand and the nurse failed to notice that the IV had blown my vein. Needless to say, at discharge my hand and forearm looked like a latex balloon. Each day since, the pain has gotten progressively worse to the point that I’m no longer able to sleep through it. Even with the Oxy from surgery, it only buys me 3 hours of sleep where I’m still conscience of the pain.

Have you tried warm compress and elevating it on pillows above your heart? I have had the same thing happened the last 3 times I had an IV line.
If it doesn’t help, you should call your doctor.

Warm, cold, elevating, wrapping etc... nothing. I’m sitting at the urgent care now.

They think it’s extensor tendinitis but have to send me to the main hospital to rule out a blood clot first.
