Sounds like my day. Except the can sip a Protein Shake all day and never finish 8 oz... and be thirsty and he entire day. Makes it hard to separate meal time from Water.

Plan the meals for certain times. Take your time even if it takes 2 hrs you got this.
I find Protein Shakes work best at Breakfast. They really are filling.
Take it easy and very slow. It's important to get fluids in I got some Powerade zero and crystal lite for my plain Water. It's such a task [emoji6]

I got crystal light too and today I found I can handle more of the shake if I heat it up (it’s like a bad hot chocolate [emoji23]) warmer beverages seem to be better for me. I’ll work my meal times better tomorrow :) that’s the great thing... tomorrow is a new day... to start fresh and fix those mistakes [emoji846]

I’m on day 5 today and it’s much easier getting my Protein in. I struggled day 3 and phoned the nurse. I barely got anything down because it hurt under my breast bone as if the liquid was getting stuck. The nurse told me to just keep trying as it would get easier. Day 4, yesterday was much easier and I was able to finish 2 protein shakes!

Today I had a premiere Protein Shake for breakfast which takes several hours to get.down. I also had about 3 oz of Fairlife nonfat milk - that tasted delicious. Then for lunch I had broth from homemade broth Soup which I cooked carrots, celery and other veggies in. I then strained it using cheese cloth and drank just the broth. I added 1 scoop (30 gr protein) of GENEPRO medical grade Protein Powder (which doesn’t change the taste). It tasted so good! The broth will be my dinner too.

I feel so much better today. Days 2-3 were pretty rough going and am glad I’m past that.

Scdaniec...hang in there. It’ll get better. But if you seriously are lacking in the fluids you should phone the surgery nurse.

Fairlife milk is delish! I miss it. I’ve been told no dairy for the first 2-3 weeks and they prefer we stay away altogether... but I know I’ll cave.

Yes, I’m lacking. I managed 10 oz today counting everything. [emoji30] mainly bc l, as you said, it gets caught in my chest where they did the hernia repair.

Oh they did a hernia repair on me too. I didn’t know I had it. Surgeon saw it when he went in and fixed it. So that’s why my breast bone area hurts when I swallow. I didn’t know that.

It’s funny how surgeons are so different regarding milk. I was told when I was still in the hospital that I can add nonfat Fairlife Protein milk when I add my Protein Shakes. I’m very thankful for the milk. It’s helping.

It may be that the Protein One has things in it that other mills don’t (in a good way). I was told I could have almond milk but I’m scared lol

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
