I feel like crap...

Recommended Posts

I recently just had my surgery on October 24, 2017 and I feel like crap. I have no appetite whatsoever, it’s hard for me to just drink Water and I am constantly taking my pain meds which basically causes me to sleep all day. When I was in the hospital, I felt great! But now that I’m home, I just am starting to regret my decision to get the surgery so young (I’m 20 by the way). I just wish I would’ve waited because now, I hate the body I am in right now...

Hi there, I'll be having my sleeve on Nov 13. The way you're feeling what now is on of my biggest concern too. But i have some co-workers who had done the surgery, they told me it will pass. Just think that you had the surgery because you were tired of how you were and this is one step for you to be better. Btw make sure you're moving a lot, cuz blot clot can be form.

Hang in there I am on day 14 post op. I too regretted getting the surgery done, but now I am happy I did. I have lost 25 lbs and feel much better, Healthwise, than I did. I too found that walking made the pain go away much sooner. Any questions please let me know.

I am 10 weeks out and I felt like that early on as well. I thought what have I done! I think it's perfectly normal to feel like that after a big surgery. My surgeon even explained to me in medical terms why you feel down and have a little post op depression even. It gets better trust me. I had WLS surgery when I was 20 which in those days was stomach stapling. I was no prepared for it at all and I blew it big time. Now at 57 after a lifetime of staying fat and getting diabetes etc I've had to have a bypass. You can do this at your age. It's a lifestyle change but you have time on your side to make it happen. Good luck with your journey!

Right now one of my biggest challenges is learning to take very small bites and slow down. The pain reminds me that I have to do it this way. Same with drinking fluids, small, small, small, which is what my ultimate goal is to be! Hang in there my surgery twin, take walks but don't over do it and make sure to always have water with you.

What you are feeling is normal. “Buyers remorse” is very common. My wife experienced it. I did not really experience it that bad. I do miss food very much. I am down 70 pounds in roughly 12 weeks, so that is pretty sweet.

Thank you guys so much for sharing your feelings as well. I’m actually feeling a lot better and I’m glad I got the surgery. I am hitting a stall right now but I’m going to start working out again and hopefully that’ll push me out of it. I’m down 36 pounds from my high weight and i couldn’t be happier.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
