Not the day surgery I thought!

Recommended Posts

I belong to a Facebook group. Well they have me freaking out. On Oct 17, 2017 I had DS surgery. Well now I find out my surgeon doesn't perform the original ds. But a new one. I'm not sure which one I had but I looked on their website and it explains the steps to the surgery. I guess I got a DS loop, or SADI, I'm really dismayed. I feel like I did this all for nothing. These women are making me feel like a failure and I'm only ten days out. Has anyone been successful with the new kind if DS surgery

My God-sister had the loop on August 24th and is down almost fifty pounds. I just had the standard DS on 23rd I refused to do the loop because its too new. Thats just me. I would say to look at your paper work to see and make sure and call your surgeon and ask why you were not informed of the difference. Also most people do not see tons of weight loss the first two months because the body is adjusting. You got this. ️ Good luck

I had the SIPS/LOOPS/SA-DI DS on 8/8. I can't give you specifics on success or not just yet. I am however down to 192 from my HW of 242 (SW of 226). This was a revision surgery for me from the lapband so I'm predisposed to being a slower loser.

Good luck to you though :)

I am so sorry - recovery is bad enough without having to worry about what was done to you.

Can I ask who your surgeon was? I joined a Facebook group for a moment, and I saw some comments about my surgeon and the loop as well. I knew that's what I was getting into, and I've talked to a lot of people who had great success with my surgeon and that surgery. Just curious to see if maybe we have the same surgeon! As far as that Facebook group goes, if it's the same one I was in... I quickly left. They seemed like bullies!!

My surgeon was Dr. Medlin, from The BMI institute. I have talked to them thoroughly and I am ok with the surgery I had. I won't need to take as many Vitamins, I won't have diarrhea as much either. This is what they told me. Only time will tell. So now I know I had the loop ds surgery.

I'm going through Dr. Cottam there! Love the office so far! I knew I was having the loop, and they told me the same thing. Less negative effects as well! Great experience and excited for surgery come Monday. :) Best of luck to you on your journey!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
