Consult tomorrow, chi Franciscan

Recommended Posts

Initial consult is tomorrow! My insurance only requires what the surgery place requires luckily. I am really hoping somehow this can be done before the end of the year since I am almost at my insurance deductible as well. Not sure if that's possible? I am using chi Franciscan, anyone else in wa use them?

Who's your surgeon? I had Dr. Srikanth, who is affiliated with Chi Franciscan. His practice is the center for weightloss surgery. It's in the building next to the main hospital.

I only have good things to say about Dr. Srikanth and his office as well as the nurses who cared for me in the outpatient facility at Chi Franciscan. They were all just wonderful :780_sparkling_heart:

Ok I think he’s part of Chi Franciscan’s internal bariatric program. Again I have nothing but good things to say about everyone I dealt with from testing to surgery to recovery. [emoji4]

I had my consult -- love the place and the staff. The surgeon and everyone was very friendly and knew their stuff.

My insurance, it turns out, does require 6 months of Nutrition appointments with either a nutritionist, dietitian, PCP, etc that is once a month and is done 2 or less years prior to surgery.

Here is the think --- I will have to call my insurance tomorrow. I currently have Regence Uniform Classic, but I had Molina before. From August 2016 - February 2017 I did weekly calls to a nutritionist that Molina has and they paid for me to go to weight watchers to have my official weigh ins (still have the booklet as well showing the weigh ins). This covered 7 calendar months that was with a nutritionist and was much less than 2 years ago.

Theoretically, my new insurance should accept this as its actually more than what they are asking for (Through Molina it was WEEKLY visits, Regence only wants Monthly) and technically 7 calendar months instead of the 6 Regence requires.

Anyone ever switch insurances in the process and have them accept that portion?

Bypass is the what I will be having when the time comes. Surgeon and I both agreed that was definitely the way to go with my severe acid reflux.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
