BigTex 62 Posted October 26, 2017 Sup fellas! (And/or ladies who have snuck in here[emoji23])Been awhile but my first thing is I have lost just short of 120 pounds to the day since my surgery 07/17/17 And am feelin GREAT! (Picture attached). My biggest concern is the amount of what I can consume. I can eat a good 8-9 OZ steak AND a few bites of spinach or whatever veggies I accompany with my Protein. I have been working out hardcore lately but is that still normal for us? I ALWAYS eat protein first. A few weeks ago I consumed 2 baked chicken legs and a wing with some wiggle room for a few bites of steamed broccoli. Am I OVER eating? I have also never came across something that my pouch disagreed with. (I celebrated my first 100 by eating a slice of cheesecake at one of my friends get togethers) And had no I'll consequences. I'm calling on all my brothers and sisters in arms. knowledge is very much needed! Berry78 4,261 Posted October 26, 2017 Ok, you gave me permission, so I'll answer. Since you are over 3 months postop, I don't believe it is dangerous for you to eat 8oz of meat. It's surprising, but it must just indicate a larger sleeve (either longer than average, or the doc decided to leave you extra room, being a tall guy). Either way, let's talk about goals. Protein goal... 120g? An ounce of meat has about 7g protein, so 120÷7=17oz. But, people can only use 30g of protein at a meal (7g×4oz=28g). So you need to limit your meat to 4oz per meal, and spread it out into 4.5 meals a day. Limiting your meat will leave more room for veggies (i.e. Vitamins and fiber). And keep in mind not all protein has to come from meat. Hopefully your plan gave you calorie and carb goals to shoot for (if I had that, I could help formulate what the day should look like).
