Can I get by without blending foods ?

Recommended Posts

Nope Dr wants us to move forward and learn how to listen to our new stomachs and you just cant do that with Protein Shakes. I can have eggs and if I didn't develop lactose intolerance I could have the cottage cheese and greek yogurt for the next two weeks

Ok so someone not lactose intolerant could get by without blending things.

I will say that I learned how to do things just fine with Protein shakes. I would have lost a lot if muscle mass without them because I couldn't eat enough protein till well over a year out. So you CAN do it. At least some of us can. It's just not the way your doctor wants it done which is great. There are few absolutes in this.

No with this Dr you are limited on the cottage cheese, yogurt and regular cheese. Like once a day then you can have a meat. I haven't heard anyone else on these boards talk about a diet like this at all so I am sure I get to be on the one in a million diet lol. I don't mind the blending its not like its a piece of raw chicken or something like tonight I am having pot roast I just put my portion in my pulverizor and away we go, tastes just like pot roast with a texture more like super mixed flakey tuna.

That's why I asked to clarify and you said you could have it if you weren't lactose intolerant, you didn't specify any other limits.

Your diet plan is definitely one of the more unique I've heard.

I never blended anything (gag!) . We couldn't have fruits, rice, etc so I lived off ricotta bake (I broke the rules by using the sauce), Buffalo chicken dip, canned chicken, pimento cheese, Greek yogurt, and sweetened ricotta (like cannoli filling). I chewed till mush.

We were allowed ground turkey and chicken too, but I couldn't tolerate it before surgery, nor after surgery. The ground chicken was OK, but the turkey was definitely off limits.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
