LoBMI VSGguy46 56 Posted October 25, 2017 I was sleeved on 10/18/2017, so just about a week ago. I've noticed some occasional pain in the tip of my left shoulder. Recently I've noticed that it mostly happens when I burp. Has anyone else had this symptom? What to do? How long before it goes away?
Berry78 4,261 Posted October 25, 2017 It is probably gas pain from the surgery (once it moves up to the shoulder it's almost gone), or it can be pain-transfer from the diaphragm. If you had a hiatal hernia repair, that frequently results in this happening. Usually shoulder pain is no problem and goes away within a couple weeks. There is the rare chance that that pain can signify a problem, so if you develop a fever over 101 degrees Fahrenheit, the pain gets increasingly worse, or it lasts longer than 3 weeks, you'll want to run it by your doc. (Anytime you have a concern or feel something is "not right", feel free to contact your team. That's what they're there for!). If anyone develops a fever of 102 or higher during the first 2 months postop, he/she should go straight to the ER. 1 LoBMI VSGguy46 reacted to this
beacan 2 Posted October 26, 2017 Contact your surgeons office I had a follow up appointment yesterday and one of the questions they asked me was about shoulder pain. Though I didn't have any I suspect it may be a sign of something. Better to be safe than sorry later on. 5'5 VSG 9/29/17HW 265SW 258CW 234GW
LoBMI VSGguy46 56 Posted October 26, 2017 I had an appointment with my surgeon yesterday. He said it was normal and eventually it will go away.
