I did the Biotin and mine is falling out currently. I don’t think that there is really all that much you can do to prevent it.

There really is no way to stop it. The surgery causes your follicles to go into a resting phase.

I take 10,000 of Biotin per day and sometimes take 15,000. I use the shampoos and conditioners supposedly that help Hair loss. I had thick hair and have lost a lot of hair. Like others said, not sure if biotin and all that is futile. I still do it but don't think it helps. I also get over 60 or 70 g of Protein daily. Still. Falls. Out. I know it will grow back...

There is no proven way to prevent it.

So far my most effective remedy was an ultra-short cut.

I still kept loosing hair, but it was not as noticeable and easier to manage.

It turns out the short cut is very flattering on my thinner face and body.

It started coming out at 3 months post-surgery, then I shed more than a German Shepherd in my 4th month. I am now approaching 6 months out and it seems to have slowed down a bit.

Same, I love my new shirt haircut and it’s the only thing that makes it less noticeable. I’m almost 6 months post op now and it does seem to be slowing down but right around the 3-4 month mark it was unbearable.

Yaaas!

I have yet to have surgery and I was wondering the same simply because my hair is already thin and I have PCOS which causes Hair loss. and for me I've never been a fan of short hair on me, love my long hair. has anyone tried prenatal Vitamins? {if you're allowed to take them}

Same! I’ve had mine cut in a gorgeous short style in preparation! My surgery is in 2 weeks, I think it will be easier to manage and I can grow it again later [emoji16]

Does it come out in chunks , leaving bald Patches or just random strands.

Random strands. Kind of like the Hair loss you get after pregnancy.

I am experiencing the Hair loss as well. Upsetting. Started at about 4 months post op. Taking all recommended Vitamins plus added zinc and Magnesium. The texture of my hair has also changed. Extremely dry. Vitamins do not seem to be helping. Hoping it stops falling out and comes back once I reach goal weight and stabilize. has anyone who experienced hair loss post op had their hair regrow? Thanks.

I had a little thinning at about 3 to 4 months. The key to minimize it is to get your Proteins in. You can slow it down but any time you lose a lot of weight rapidly your body will break down a bit and shed some hair. It will come back after a few months. I use Biotin and get about 100 to 120 grams of Protein a day.

I am 10 months out and been losing a lot of hair. It will come back. But what works real good is Keratine (Sp) treatment. I bought online. It's expensive ($79) month but comes with Shampoo conditioner serum and spray. I'm only in first month but wow the volume it gives is awesome. And I heard hair will regrow within 3 months. I also take sugar bear gummies Vitamins.

Went to doctor about Hair loss and he said be patient it will grow back.

Had my surgery on the 25th and had a nightmare about losing my hair (in funky clumps) last night! Only thing my nutritionist said (pre op) is to make sure you get your Protein in everyday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
