Rose400491 61 Posted October 24, 2017 I had my gastric sleeve on October 17 so I’m one weeks post-op and I can’t poop! Even on my pre-op diet I was going to the bathroom (every few days) because I was allowed to eat salads. Now on my post-op diet I’m just on Protein and Water and broth. I’m concerned but in reality I believe I have nothing in my digestive system to get out

Tat19808 35 Posted October 25, 2017 I was sleeved 9/25/17. Constipation hit me at week 2. Take milk of magnesia to empty yourself out.... and take 2 stool softeners a day... that's what I am doing now

ATL Sarah Beth 5 Posted October 28, 2017 Please don't assume there is nothing in your system to get out. Those were my same thoughts and I ended up in the ER at 1.5 weeks pre-op. The worst experience I have ever had. 2 jennypenny1998 and GwennyPenny reacted to this
ydorodkin 6 Posted October 29, 2017 Had the same problem. Metamucil, benefiber, Miralax never worked for me, even milk of magnesia. Glycerin suppositories did magic! 1 Rose400491 reacted to this
PNWlady12 5 Posted November 6, 2017 milk of magnesia is my friend. I learned the hard way, if a few days go by with out a BM... I'm jammed. MoM clears it right out! Sent from my SM-G955U using BariatricPal mobile app
Heather S 17 Posted November 6, 2017 I think the Protein Drinks stop me up. Having to take milk of magnesia and slowly getting some relief. I'm 2 weeks post op. Im hoping it gets better but going to try stool softeners too Sent from my SM-J327T using BariatricPal mobile app
Angie's_Ocean 213 Posted November 6, 2017 I’m exactly 1 week post-op RNY and haven’t had a BM in 8 days. Mind you I have been on Clear Liquids & Jello for 2 weeks (1 week pre-op and 1 week post-op). I don’t feel the urge or constipated however. I don’t know if there’s anything really in there to pass. Should I be worried or take milk of magnesia just in case? ydorodkin 6 Posted November 9, 2017 Had the same problem. Metamucil, benefiber, Miralax never worked for me, even milk of magnesia. Glycerin suppositories did magic! also, flex seeds helped even better. Take about 2 spoons of flex seeds (better raw seeds) put in about 16 oz ceramic jar and put hot boiled Water and cover. Drink up to 3 times a day when cools off. Morning doze better on empty stomach.
Ang~10~17~17 22 Posted November 13, 2017 I had my sleeve on 10/17 also. Been having the same problem. So I ate some flavored applesauce and the fruit did the trick for me.
