timarland 35 Posted October 24, 2017 Hi all - sorry if this is an annoying repost, but I'm 1.5 months pre-op and I'm trying to get a general sense of how long people are generally in the OR? I think my band procedure was about 45 minutes. I know a lot of the length depends on complexity which depends on what they find when they get in there, but any stories would be appreciated! themaestroswife 62 Posted October 25, 2017 I had so many adhesions that mine took 3 times as long to remove the lap band, and 5 months later I had more adhesions, so my sleeve surgery took twice as long, or 2.5 hours to complete. The plus side for me was the my nurse in the recovery room let me sleep for a few hours before getting my family. I was happy, they were not! 1 timarland reacted to this

themaestroswife 62 Posted October 26, 2017 Yes because my surgeon said that in my case it was the safest. I don't regret having it done this way now, but hindsight is 20/20. 1 timarland reacted to this
NewChiGirl 84 Posted October 26, 2017 Really depends on what's going on inside. I had it done in one procedure and had a TON of scar tissue and it took him like 4.5 hours. Most of it was removing the adhesions. I had my band in for 9.5 years. Good luck! Looks like you're down quite a bit in the short time since your revision. Nice! 1 isit5yet reacted to this

My revision. Was done in one procedure on 8/31/17. My surgeon predicted 45 min for everything and I woke up in my room and family told me took 2. 5 hrs. Had so much scar from band collar and esophagus was torn. And I had a very experienced surgeon and he told surgeon who put in my band placed the collar too high on esophagus. Not to scare you but it really depends on what they find when they get inside. My doc didn't anticipate any complications because I was healthy and other than band being too tight, had no other complaints!
jcb123 115 Posted November 20, 2017 I not only had lap band but also stomach placation (which neither me or my surgeon new I had) so it took twice as long. I was in surgery for almost 5 hours!!!!
