Sleeve to Mini Bypass Slow Weight Loss

Recommended Posts

Hi There MGB Peeps!

I think I am being a good sport, but this slow losing really has me discouraged. I am now 3 weeks out and have only lost 10 pounds since surgery day . I know they say revisions lose more slowly, but this is the pits! It's very frustrating when you see that others are losing 20-30 lbs. the first month. I know I am nowhere near on track to deliver that kind of result. Anybody else having a similar experience?

Don't be discouraged. I've read that it is usually slower the second time around. This time focus on making healthy, lasting change to your eating habits.

I'm hanging in there. Thank you so much for your support and encouragement. This forum does so much for me. It's like "walking the halls" full of people just like me.

A second surgery will never lose at the rate as a virgin surgery will, at the same time, you don't have that much to lose to begin with. Hang in there.

Thank you so much Meryline! I really appreciate the encouragement. I know we are told not to parallel our journey with anyone else's, but it so hard not to compare myself. With the help of all of y'all, I am re-focused on ME and MY unique journey!

Severe GERD, very severe. I hadn't slept on my back in years, I was throwing up blood, esophageal damage, etc. It was a nightmare@

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.
