7 Months Out From VSG

Recommended Posts

Hey there! I had VSG done on 3/21/2017. I have lost just over 100 lbs since surgery which is 80% of my total weight loss goal. Just curious if that seems normal or high for how far out I am.. My surgeon commented that I have lost a lot more than most in that short period of time. Now I am concerned that I am going to lose more than I want to (my goal weight is 160).

So, yeah.. you are 14lbs ahead of me. I eat about 1100 calories a day and haven't started exercising quite yet.

Maybe the gym is what's made the difference. I have been going since 2 weeks after surgery.. I try to go as regular as I can but sometimes life gets in the way and I skip a few weeks. The perspective helps though thank you!!

I went from 296 to 225 so far, its not all about the weight, but the body fat %. You can be adding muscle and losing fat. I had a goal weight of 205 ish in mind, but feel comfortable at 225. Your body will settle into its natural weight after the reset.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
