Hi all,

My surgery is 5 weeks away and I'm getting pretty nervous and I'm not sure why.....

I've had a few major surgeries in the belly region, with big incisions and I did really good.

I think the 2 things I'm most nervous about is the drug induced nap (me and anesthesia don't get along). I throw up every time and they give me way to much, based on my weight.....And getting all my Water in.....

I'm pretty sure I'll be asking for a nice cocktail of something to calm my nerves the day of..

My surgery is in 3 days and it's really hitting home. I feel your pain lol
Hang in there I'm sure they'll be giving you something to relax pre-surgery and if they don't be sure to ask.. I know I'm gonna

Good luck to you. I'm sure I'll be losing my sh_t 3 days before surgery.

I'm scheduled next Monday and I'm feeling the same. I scheduled my midterms this week and work is insane so that's keeping me from obsessing right now but I know Saturday I'll be freaking out lmao

My surgery is in December and I'm trying to work around finals and end of year stuff at work. Gah! I totally get what you are saying and I'll be in the same boat in a month and a half.

Hi there, my surgery is two weeks away and I don't do well with anesthesia either. I was told at my visit with anesthesia that they will give me something for nerves before I even go into the operating suite. That calmed me down. Maybe you could ask if they can give you something too. Oh, and they give either zofran or promethazine before you go in for surgery too. You will do great!! I'm happy for you!!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
