Office Worker tips.

I have a funny story to tell. I am a sweetaholic, if sweets did not exist I would be thin. Well anyways, I have been under tons of stress and not making good food choices. Well, here I am now 20 lbs heavier and feel like crap. (going to get fill in two weeks, way overdue). I've been complaining about how much I've gained, yada yada... always bitching about it to my friends.. Anyways, we have two ladies that bring in goodies to the office and yesterday, one of them brought me some carrot cake (my favorite thing in the world). Well, I was late getting to work and on my desk was an emply plate with evidence that there had been cake there. On the lip of the plate was a sticky from my best friend. It read: "I stopped by to see you, and you weren't in.. saw your cake.. ate it.. It was for your own good". I thougt it was very considerate of her to sacrifice herself for me that way.. yeah, right.. But she was right, if she had not eaten the cake I would have eaten it up.. Well, thought I'd share.

That was nice of your friend to eat your cake...rude, but nice! lol

This might sound silly but I have the chocolate flavored Calcium chew and I eat that when I have the candy crave!

Yummie...I love those bad boys...I have my dose of them daily!

Imagine, I had my surgery last Tuesday - didn't tell anyone at work what was going on. My birthday was Sunday and on Monday (first day back to work) they have a big CIDER AND DONUTS (donuts are my second biggest weakness) party for me !!

Most of them knew I had had some kind of surgery, so I was able to say that I just didn't have my appetite back yet and thanked them as they all ate my birthday party goodies. ;)

I could say I'm proud of myself - but 6 days after surgery even a nibble of a donut would have been a bad choice for me. I suppose I could have had the cider, but I'm not a cider lover, plus I didn't want to risk the ""digestive"" results of drinking cider.

I'm feeling quite safe with my ProtiDiet drinks, carnation instant breakfasts, Soups and Water. Why mess with it when I'm feeling pretty good so far. We'll see what happens after Friday when I think my Dr will put me on 'soft foods'. Can you really put a cheeseburger in a blender?;)

I have three candy jars in my office - and a pretzel jar. I'm not tempted by the candy - never have been a chocolate nut. The pretzels looked good to me yesterday - but I knew that was a no no too.

Hey TopDownBug, I had the surgery on Thursday, 10/18 and MY birthday was Sunday too! Happy belated, Libra!!

Good luck!

The company I order the office gifts for our clients from, and handmade chocolate company sent me Dark Chocolate covered pretzels. I didn't even tell anyone at work. I took them home tonite and ate just 3.

Its been so long since I ate candy, that it made me nauseous and gave me a headache. So I rang the doorbell for my sister upstairs and gave them to her.

So I guess that is a small victory for me. The people at work have been keeping their candy hidden, and it was nearly 6 weeks for me to have a piece and it made me sick tonite.

That is just wrong. In my office they put them on the desk right behind me. I was a good girl last friday one of my co-workers came by with danish, and I said no. Then one of my other co-workers said "GO AHEAD you wont be able to eat it after your banded"

Man I was like this is not the help I need

I also work in an office... in a private golf club with a dinning room and a chef! Its not so much the sweets but the all the "bar" food - ugh. Thank goodness the season is almost over!!! I drink coffee in the morning and I also use the calcium chews as a treat. Now that I have a good fill I really don't struggle much with the temptations - and as for eating a danish or doughnut - all I can say is OMG I'd be stuck and puking if I even thought about it for too long. With the proper fill it just ain't gonna happen. But I will admit I do give in to a piece of chocolate now and then, bad thing about the band it still allows me to eat chips and candy :boink: So will power is needed in those areas.

We have candy coming out of the ears. I have brought in sugar-free candies and filled my drawer with them. There is a gentleman in the office who is a diabetic, so I told him any time he wanted, help himself. So, he and I were going through the drawer, picking out what we wanted when a co-worker leaned over and took a handful. I was shocked! My friend said, "Hey! Those are sugar-free - you don't need it, you can eat the real stuff. Put it back!" So, she did!

Don't stand between a diabetic on a bad day and his SF candy!

Well today, the candy, Cookies, cake, treats and stuff all showed up. In the pantry area, near the supply closet. I resisted until 1:00pm, and just had a bite of the cake, and threw the rest out. I did take a handful of black licorice pieces, but I know you can't eat too many of those.

So, I figure the fork full is enough, and so far I am not wanting more. The licorice is still on my desk too.

When there is cake and donuts or candies that are not wrapped, I imagine people going to the washroom and not washing there hands properly, or people having a good ole nose picking session before they handled that food, and that it is riddled with germs from snot and feces............works every time.

Sorry for the nasty visual

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
