How often did/ do you vomit post-surgery?

Recommended Posts

I'm almost 4 months post-op, and so far no vomiting, but have been queasy several times and thought about it.

2 weeks out and only twice so far. Those were at the hospital and like a previous poster mentioned more likely caused by having been put under and it really was more like dry heaving and foam.

I’d like to amend my statement from above; looks like I didn’t agree with a new multi I was trying out and out it went! Took me 3 mornings to realize that it was the multi causing the problem.

Thanks for the input! How’s everything else going post op? Happy you did it?

I'm almost 4 years post op, and haven't vomited once! Had some nausea quite a few times, but no actual vomiting. I have also never had a bad experience with any foods, either. My sleeve can handle anything. Double edged sword, I suppose ;)

I'm also 5 1/2 months out and I have not thrown up since the hospital. I have felt like it a couple of times when I eat too much or I forget and drink too soon after eating. It's been pretty easy...I am careful about how much I eat and I stay on the program most meals.I remember how excited I was to eat that first scrambled egg...I still love eggs and eat them most mornings!

My sleeve can't handle **** lol. No but seriously, a year out and i still have to be SO careful. I'm grateful but its annoying when trying to eat out. Its way better if i eat at home, usually alone so I'm not distracted and eat too fast. I can eat most things but i still have to just upchuck after eating certain things. But it's not like a regular vomiting situation. I'll feel really full, then it'll start rolling up and down my throat and then ill start to get heartburn and then ill have to just make that decision to let it go. Happens if not a couple times a day then several times a week. Makes me not want to eat because i honestly feel more comfortable without food in my stomach. But so long as I'm careful with my choices and time, most things stay down.

Thank you so much for sharing your experience! This makes me feel so much better about the surgery.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
