As this week comes to a close I wanted to invite any and everyone who has had a win this week to comment and share. My big wins this week was loosing my first 20lbs and tonight I made my first venture into trying to able to tolerate real Protein. I had a very small piece of chicken and it went well!

That's so great! As my sleeve is not for 2 weeks I have nothing to share... apart from that it is nearly midday and my endoscopy isn't until 3 pm. Bless the diabetics who always get in first ;-)

And I haven't even had a cup of tea! Poor me! Lol... it's so worth it though :-)

Omg yes my endoscopy was at 4pm. I couldn’t eat the whole day and I was a terror. I was so mean to my husband and mother. [emoji23][emoji24][emoji24]

Haaaaaa gawd I can’t wait for a cup of tea though! I leave in 40mins so just trying to keep busy. I tried to talk my doc out of doing one but he was like nahhhhhh.
I know some doctors don’t do them. I guess it’s safer really, to check for stuff :-)

I'm now 7 days post op. Still have 1 more day until I can try mushy foods. I can't imagine being able to eat soild foods right now. I envy you! I'm finally out of "what did I do to myself" stage and now just slowly getting better day by day.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
