Pregnant women have an acute sense of smell. They will smell the mayo on their sandwich before eating it. They have a sense of smell like nobody else. It's almost animalistic.

With that said, don't you think your sinus infection might be playing a role here?

I thought that was it but today will be my last day of a Z-pack. I would think the antibiotic would have done it. I am still really nasally though?????

It EASILY takes a good three weeks to recover from a sinus infection. They are one of the most annoying infections to treat.

WASa is right it usually takes 3 weeks or MORE to treat a sinus infection, and alot of time MAY take more then one dose of medicines to get rid of it. Had a sinus infection once that took 4 different antibiotics to kill it. And every time the doctor perscribed a new antibiotic the time taking them got longer. The 4th perscription I had to take for like 4 weeks.

Aparently this happens most with people who get lots of infections and take antibiotics often. I have one in my left ear that has not gone totally away in 3 years. Oh it gets better for a while then comes back so next step will be tubes. doc is affraid all the antibiotics will destroy my immune system. Doc says its rare to put tubes in a 39 year old. LOL

OMGosh ..in the last week, I have become a super-smeller! It's amazing. I seem to appreciate scents so much more. I still have to cook dinner for my family and altho I cannot eat any of it yet, I savour the smells ..it is wonderful.

The only time I am not appreciating the smells is when I smell something yucky. I have noticed my hubby has had icky breath a couple of times, but have never known him to have bad breath in 15 years. Weird. Maybe I can finally smell his because my own breath isn't battling against it?

I know when I came home from my appendix removal I was super sensitive to smells and sounds. I just assumed it was from being in environment that so clean that it gave my senses a break or something.

kinda like how if you stay home allot then go out for the day and come home and wonder why walking past your kids room it smells like a gym locker :)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
