Are you looking for the BariatricPal Store? Go now!

Okay, so I'm doing my bowel cleanse and I drank a boatload of Metamucil. Then I went back to my binder and read MiraLAX! I went to the store to buy the correct product and now I'm working my way in the right direction. Do you think I might have drank too much by combining Metamucil and Miralax? Right now, I'm cramping a little, but not the physical act of cleansing.

Oh no! Well I guess it’s all going to come out!! The miralax should shove out the Metamucil but maybe give your surgeons office a call. You might need extra something to be sure! Poor you! It’s the sort of thing I would do!!!!

I have to be at the hospital at 6am, so I'll just let the doctor know in the morning. It's not like I'm eating a cheeseburger and French fries like the rest of my family is doing this very moment. The smell of their food is actually making nauseous. Thanks for letting me know I'm not the only one who does this stuff. LOL

Fortunately 8 teaspoons of metamucil isnt THAT much. But Fiber absorbs Fluid including medication. So its possible that it could absorb some of the miralax negating its effects. Of course metamucil also has laxative effects, so I dont think youll have too many problems.

However I imagine youre going to feel insanely incredibly bloated and probably have a ton of cramping and possibly stomach pain from the metamucil. I know I would be if I took that much

It's been almost 6 hours since the inception of my fiber/laxative delemma and so far everything is status quo. I hear a lot of gurgling and feel a little cramped, but that's it. I have a feeling it will hit sometime in the middle of the night when I'm dreaming about unicorns and rainbows. I hope my doc doesn't delay surgery in the morning because of this.

I take that much as a normal dose! Not that I’ve needed it often but it does the trick! I must be hardcore [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
