What was your first CHRISTMAS after WLS like?

Recommended Posts

Sleeved 9/16/16. I had and will have again turkey and gravy. Veggies. I tried a tiny amount of stuffing with gravy and turkey and mixed it. Was great.

Christmas: holiday meat/fish/ veggies
Some egg nog.

No bread/no pasta

I have been dreading the holidays. I love all things carb. I have been sticking to the plan 100% and don't want to derail. I am making the turkey so I plan on weighing my turkey and having a raw veggie platter if I feel the need to "graze". A piece of cauliflower can last 5-10 minutes. I am considering making a Protein pumpkin moose but am not sure. I feel like it is a slippery slope for me.

I am actually excited to have a break in routine these holidays.

In the past I loaded up, felt terrible, got really tired and felt very anti-social. While I am not dealing with liquid or puréed stage, I am excited to not have all those horrible feelings that come with over eating

I'd really recommend NOT doing that. It's all things you don't need at a stage it will be hard enough to fit it what you DO need. I had the same issues first Christmas and just have this to say.... there will always be more holidays, more chances to eat those foods. This reset happens ONCE. Make the most of it.

I guess I didnt realize people would not realize I meant there is a sugar free variety, (that I make every year. I have a lot of diabetics in my family) sugar free, but not dairy free (it doesnt bake correctly if you try dairy free) this is the one I have used forever. Tastes almost exactly to my regular pumpkin pie, which is always a hit! I do not do the whipped cream. I use fat free evaporated milk, And I use 2 t. Pumpkin pie spice instead of the spices listed. I will be lucky to have a half teaspoon of it, but that is the only craving I have at holidays, because it was something my Mom truly loved! I swear I am the only person that made it for Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter. IMG_9378.JPG

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
