hap314ness 90 Posted October 20, 2017 It has become very clear, between the reading materials my surgeon has given and the advice from everyone on this forum, that Water is one of the most essential pieces of success post-op. My concern is that I have never been one to hydrate regularly. I roll my eyes whenever "stay hydrated" is toted as a cure alll... headaches, feeling fuller, Constipation, nausea, depression, clear skin...you name it water always seems to be the answer. But I hate drinking. I know I am in for a rude awakening for the pre and post op liquid diet, and I am committed to being a good patient. I want to meet my water levels. Can I have some ideas to make sure I am constantly sipping and getting my water on track? I need it to be easy or else I won't stick to it. 4 bossportsgal, Drzthickness85, holly606 and 1 other reacted to this

So does watered down juice. 2 hap314ness and Sosewsue61 reacted to this

hap314ness 90 Posted October 20, 2017 It's not that I don't like Water. It's that I don't drink enough. I'm lucky if I get in 12oz. I need something to keep me drinking the 60something oz that we need to maintain. 1 bossportsgal reacted to this
ewms 57 Posted October 20, 2017 I've seen people mark their Water bottles with timeline so they remember by 9, 10, 11,12,1 the level should be at ______. It would help me because I sip the same bottle of water all day long. Drinking is going to be new to me tooSent from my Pixel XL using BariatricPal mobile app 1 hap314ness reacted to this

njgal 535 Posted October 20, 2017 The first couple of days I found it very helpful -darn annoying but helpful nonetheless- to set my phone’s timer to 15 mins and hit repeat. Not only did it get me up and moving but also was a constant reminder to drink. 3 Shine66, hap314ness and Nataliesmom reacted to this

Danny Paul 761 Posted October 21, 2017 I found an app that helps me keep track of my liquid intake. Go to your app store and look at the different apps that are available. I have a 32oz water bottle that I drink all day. I fill it twice to get mt 64oz of liquids. The first few days after surgery were the hardest as for getting in my liquids. I drank Water, herbal tea, chicken broth and ate sugar free Jello and sugar free ice pops. 3 hap314ness, njgal and Hannah83 reacted to this
Miss Topaz 300 Posted October 22, 2017 According to my dietician, Protein Shakes count as part of your fluids. Definitely need to be supplemented with Water, but at least they count! 1 hap314ness reacted to this
hap314ness 90 Posted October 23, 2017 Thanks everyone! It helps knowing a lot of the liquid I have counts toward my intake and I will definitely be downloading an app and buying a Water bottle to keep me motivated. I liked the timer idea, too, I'll probably do all of the above just to keep myself on my toes.
