Hello Again

Recommended Posts

I'm back. I'm looking to reconnect. BP looks a bit different. I am going to have to learn how to use the forum again.

Three years out and I still feel blessed for having my life back. Maintaining for me is just as hard as weight loss phase. I'm in the 140's. Trying to get 15 pounds down. Losing weight is at a snail's pace.

looking forward to meeting new patients. I also hope to see familiar veterans.

Why do you feel you need to lose more? You look great

Hi I’m 4 years out and I agree it’s just as hard as the losing phase. This year seems to be the hardest for me. I’m sitting at 143 but really feel at my best at 132.
So much so that yesterday was my 4 year anniversary and today I decided to go back to 2 shakes and 1 high Protein meal for dinner. I’m very scared that I’m slipping into some bad habits so I figure I’m going to hate the shakes so I’ll think twice before letting the weight creep up again.
Great to know that it’s not just me and my Husband that think this way. Welcome back

Ok so just weighed in after a week of 2 shakes 1 high Protein meal and lots of Water and I’m down to 138. So the scale is moving in the right direction. The plan is to stick to this for another week and see where I’m at.

Well we have to be vigilant because it never gets easy. I did shakes and a small meal for dinner and I lost just fine doing that. Then some event comes up and I over do it and gain 3 or 4 lbs back that it took me a month to lose. The farther out I am, the harder it is.

I'm down 2 pounds. I'm working hard to get to my goal. I'm trying hard not to give in on the holiday Cookies etc.... I'm making healthy versions of my holiday foods.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
