Sherry Rice 184 Posted October 19, 2017 Uh oh, I cheated. Im on a 10 Day Pre-Op liquid VSG Diet (42 BMI). I was shaking so much I had a Tbsp. of shredded roasted chicken breast. I did the same thing yesterday. Is this going to screw anything up? My surgery is 10/28/2017.
readytolose727 55 Posted October 19, 2017 No it's not going to screw up anything, I cheated on preop and I was fine. Trust me a little bit of chicken isn't that bad. beacan 2 Posted October 19, 2017 No you are fine, roasted chicken is healthy. My surgeon didn't require liquid diet just Protein Shakes along with a Protein meat and veggies or salad. Every surgeon is different. They probably just want to prepare you for the 2 week liquid diet after the surgery 5'5 VSG 9/29/17HW 265SW 258CW 234GW 170 1 Sherry Rice reacted to this
MJP820 33 Posted October 20, 2017 Are you getting in a variety of options? If you want savory food try the broth. The better you do with the Pre-Op the easier time the doctor will have doing the surgery, and you will recover faster. Stay strong and do what it takes to fulfill your dreams and goals. It's a long road but worth the sacrificing. You can do it!! 1 Sherry Rice reacted to this

BuffaloBill 168 Posted October 20, 2017 I didn't even have a pre op diet at all. Just nothing to eat or drink the night before after 12am. I'm on day 14 post op and I'm doing extremely well Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app 1 Sherry Rice reacted to this

Im going to stick with what my surgeon wants and eat a Tbsp of chicken breast as needed. [emoji4]
MJP820 33 Posted October 20, 2017 (edited) The Pre-Op diet plan is based off your weight and health condition, so some plans are different. Plus doctors prescribe differently. Just follow what is stated because that is what they are used based on research. Edited October 20, 2017 by MJP820 1 Sherry Rice reacted to this

Macy Gray 50 Posted October 20, 2017 i binged all the way till 2 days till surgery.. mcdonalds, fried chicket, fried rice, icecream i gorged it all.. 2 days pre op i fasted till surgery, after surgery . even after surgery i tried to cheat on fried rice, i puked it all out and almost choked on a piece of orange chicken. after that ive been a saint and havent touched any fastfood.. i strictly eat small pieces of lean Protein now, and lots a Protein Shakes. 1 Sherry Rice reacted to this

[emoji4] If you literally have hypoglycemia and it's causing you to shake to the extent you must deviate from his plan, you need to speak with your surgeon. They need to know so they can help you avoid similar issues post op.It's not about cheating or the difference in pre op diets. 1 Sherry Rice reacted to this

I have never been diagnosed with hypoglycemia, but I have always gotten the shakes if I don't eat. Today is Day 4 and it seems to get a little better every day. Im kind of bummed that I have not gone into ketosis yet! [emoji17] I figured out yesterday that it's because the sugar free pudding has 11g of carbs [emoji15] So that is the end of those! I didn't weigh myself before I started my Pre Op diet. I don't even own a scale. Maybe today I should go buy one.

[emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23] LOL I ate like a total pig AND drank too much in the days leading up to the start date of this diet. Mine was a food and alcohol funeral! My point is if you CANT follow the pre op diet (I mean choosing to diverge from it or "cheat" is not what I'm talking about, that's a grown up choice) if you CANT then you really should have a discussion with your doctor about the medical issues in play and what you need to do to ensure your health post-op.
