BrownsugarNY 30 Posted October 19, 2017 I’m on my 5th month of NUT visits and I seemed to have gained 4lbs and I’ve heard horror stories of people being denied by their insurance company for gaining weight during Pre-Op visits. I have BCBS NY and for the first 4 months I remained consistent during my weigh-ins and I don’t know where this weight came from. It could be stress since my surgery will be scheduled for Dec 2017... Has anyone gained weight during pre-op visits and was still approved? I’m freaking out and in need of answer!

My weight fluctuated during then pre-op weight management visits and it wasn’t a big deal. As long as my BMI was above the required 40, then I was good. I hope this helps. temkins 71 Posted October 20, 2017 I had the same issue with my insurance policy. Unfortunately you have to demo the ability to lose weight, otherwise they won’t approve. However, mid-checks don’t matter - but the final weight does. My NUT suggested to stay on pre-op diet 4-5 days before the final visit. That worked ok, my weight was lower than when I first checked into the program. 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
