Heyo,

So I had my surgery on the 13th of October (6 days ago) and today throughout the day I noticed that the incesion by my belly button was somewhat "leaking". I felt somethin cold and I lifted up my top and noticed a Fluid it had some blood and some clear liquid. I panicked and dried it then started researching. I'm still not sure whats going on?!? I red that I should just let it dry and not move too much so thats what I'm doing. If this has happened to anyone pls lemme know. Im freaking out a bit because my doctor is going on holiday tmrw and hes not back for 4 days! Btw this leak is not like shooting out blood haha its just a small amount but im still worried.

Pls get back to me with any info :)

Thanks!

I'm sorry this is happening to you. Even if your doctor is going on holiday, there must be someone else on your surgical team you can contact. Good luck!

My doctor had me text him a picture, then offered advice. Since it's a weekday, why not call and see what they say?

I messaged him but he hasnt responded. I'm assuming hes already on his way to wherever hes going and possibly left hos work phone behind? Im hoping hes just on a flight and thats why he hasn't responded.

Im just trying to calm down haha

I wiped it with some alcohol and I'm just letting it dry by not covering it up.

I was sleeved 10/10 and went for my one week checkup yesterday. I had the same exact thing. My surgeon bandaged it and said it was fine. As long as there isn't a bad smell and only a little. It's coming from my biggest incision and she said it happens. I still think you should consult your doc, but don't panic.

I agree, don't panic. If it's clear and doesn't stink, it's not likely an infection. For piece of mind, I would have a nurse or someone else look at it.

Just a little update, my doctor told me that this is normal and that it should not be covered to allow it to dry! I was also told to intake more Protein as this would heal the incesions faster.

Hopefully it’s all better now! If not try cleaning with saline instead of alcohol. Alcohol can dry it out and irritated even more.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
