riemgirl 7 Posted October 17, 2017 I had my sleeve done on 10/5/17. I've been struggling with the 2 week liquid diet and have had a few things here or there but nothing real bad. I'm talking a few oyster crackers in my broth and that type of thing. This morning I am only down 2lbs since surgery. After surgery I was up about 10lbs due to all the extra Fluid weight but I definitely feel like I should be down more than 2lbs. Today is the first day that I've really thought maybe this won't work for me. I have my post op appointment tomorrow and am worried about what they are going to say about my lack of weight loss. Has anyone else had this issue?
Desert Tank 9 Posted October 17, 2017 You got this. Everyone's different and losses at different rates. I lost a lot real fast and then slow down I'm 3 months out and down 80 lb. It gets easier just remember you got this.Sent from my LG-H910 using BariatricPal mobile app 1 riemgirl reacted to this
Danny Paul 761 Posted October 17, 2017 The weight will come off. Everyone is different, that being said the fact that you'll eat less will eventually cause you to lose weight.
Clarevoyant 347 Posted October 22, 2017 Hate to say it but stay off the scale. Some people can handle the ups and downs without it impacting their mood but it doesn't sound like that's you. If you follow instructions the weight will come off but be patient. I am a year and four months out and moments like these are a distant memory! 2 JoyandLight and riemgirl reacted to this
JoyandLight 42 Posted October 23, 2017 Clare is right! It will drive you crazy. I wish someone would have told me--it's not My 600lb life and after the commercial you're down a pants size. Youre probably retaining Water. It will come off. 3 Smooter, KarenOR and CJ Sunshine reacted to this

Many of us who are/were obese remain in perpetual fat-storage mode when we don't curtail our carb intake. For some, carbs stimulate a continual stream of insulin production, thereby preventing stored body fat from being burned. The end result is you don't lose weight. Here's another way of approaching the topic...carbs are the easiest, preferred fuel/energy source for your body. Therefore, why would your body expend precious effort metabolizing your stored body fat when it is getting all the energy it needs from any carbs you may be feeding it? My advice is to curtail your carb intake ASAP. Even a few oyster crackers need to go. Good luck to you.
Nancy MBGC 90 Posted October 24, 2017 Well heck there's carbs in low fat Yogurt. I'm practically living on that in my full liquid phase!
Introversion 1,876 Posted October 24, 2017 Just now, Nancy MBGC said: Well heck there's carbs in low fat Yogurt. You have a point, but the carbs in yogurt are not derived from white flour... Some people are more carb-sensitive than others. The original poster stated she's only lost 2 pounds since surgery. Perhaps removing crackers from the diet may help. That's all. 1 Nancy MBGC reacted to this
Berry78 4,261 Posted October 24, 2017 Were you able to lose weight preop? What happens preop can sometimes predict how losses will go postop. You also may still be swollen and/or retaining Fluid from surgery or your monthly cycle (if you still have that).
KarenOR 180 Posted October 24, 2017 I was instructed to keep carbs below 100g. I don't think you have to do zero carbs. It's not realistic. Saltines were on my stage 3 suggestions because they dissolve, like oyster crackers. But that meant a serving not a sleeve of them. Just keep at it., results will come! Allie589 171 Posted October 24, 2017 The first few weeks out are so hard! You’re feeling all these new feelings and you want food but can’t have it but if you could, you wouldn’t really be able to eat it...it’s such a crazy roller coaster. Just try to focus on your Protein and Water and stay off the scale. Homemade-thanks mom!-chicken broth saved me during your stage. I was sleeved 8/7 and have been on the scale 4 times total. Next time will be in December when I go back for my 4 month. You’re in the thick of healing right now. Once you’re healed, it’ll be so much easier bc you can have real food and you’ll be so blown away by how little you can actually tolerate. Hang in there!! You’re doing great!!!!Sleeved 8/7 HW: 256 SW: 248 CW: 213 @ 10 weeks post op 5'7" GW: 150 1 riemgirl reacted to this
Ready2Live! 17 Posted October 24, 2017 These first few weeks are really a rollercoaster but I'm sure 6 months from now this will be a blip. The weight will come off! After all of the preparation and excitment for surgery it is hard not to see progress right away but it is coming. The weight will come off!
Katherella 12 Posted October 25, 2017 I have heard that you need to have enough Protein to be able to burn fat. How is your protein intake ?
