Recommended Posts

Just 1 i had a 1 on 1 talk with the psych and a psych test that included over 400 scantron questions from what I understand though some programs require the testing and visit in separate appts

I have done only one visit. The reason for the visit, is to make sure that your are mentally prepared for surgery and you know exactly what it entails, how it will change your life and what to expect after surgery. If deemed that you are making an educated decision, the doctor will give you clearance for surgery. I am not sure what happen if you have a history of psych issues or if you demonstrate uncertainty during your visit. Maybe in such a situation, you would have to do more than one visits.

Thanks. My wife had the surgery last June and the requirement was the same as you. I’m seeing a different psychologist and this guy is requiring THREE. Just wondering if it is bill padding?

Just one. One on one lasted an hour (at most - including her gathering basic info) My co-pay was $25 but the fee for writing a report was $150. That stung a little!

No psych issues. And my wife had the sleeve done 16 months ago, so I’m well educated as to the process. This guy requires 3 visits for everybody and it seems excessive from what I heard and from my wife’s experience (she saw a different psychologist)

I had three visits as well. First visit was just to talk about myself and the surgery, second was just to take a very long personality test, and the third was to go over the test. After that she cleared me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
