Bobcats 3 Posted October 16, 2017 Do you all experience a stall during pms and/or your period? I had my first period exactly a month after my surgery but still lost weight. It’s now been 8 weeks since my surgery and, starting with my PMS, for a week and a half I neither gained nor lost weight until after my period was over. Before WLS this was a problem and I remember having the same issue when I did Weight Watchers with weekly weigh-ins. I tracked using MFP during this time and there wasn’t a huge change of food intake, although I ate a few crackers every day to deal with hormone-related nausea. I didn’t see an increase in calories. I worked out except for the four days of my period. I’m losing again so maybe it isn’t a huge deal, but it really messed with my head this month -I seriously started thinking “Maybe I have a condition that won’t let me lose any more weight?” Should I just expect this to happen every month? Will this change as I lose more weight? Am I doing something wrong?
Berry78 4,261 Posted October 16, 2017 Yes, expect it every month. I stop losing for a few days before my period, then most of the time I'm bleeding, then I'll have a big drop of several pounds. The body just retains Fluid. Don't let it mess with your head... 1 Bobcats reacted to this
jhope71 105 Posted October 16, 2017 Definitely a "thing." I don't even have periods anymore from a hysterectomy, but I still have my ovaries and still stall out once a month when I ovulate/PMS. It's frustrating, but temporary. Part of the beauty of womanhood! LOL
sleevedshereen 524 Posted October 16, 2017 FOR SURE lol I hold on to weight for like 2 weeks and then after I get my monthly gift, I lose like 4-5 lbs lol
MowryRocks 679 Posted October 17, 2017 I experience the same thing. If I had a dollar for every time I thought that maybe there was something wrong with me preventing me from losing more weight... Hang in there. 2 sleevedshereen and ValerieZ reacted to this
nurse247 74 Posted October 19, 2017 Exact same thing here. It’s getting to where I can pinpoint my start date. Lol
Bobcats 3 Posted October 19, 2017 Thank you all so much for your input! Like I said, I seriously thought that only two months after surgery, my body was done losing weight. Thank goodness this week I’m back to losing again! It’s already bad enough that I’m hormonal and emotional during that time of the month. I don’t need to freak out every month with a stall!
