Tat19808 35 Posted October 16, 2017 I am getting ready to go back to work, and want to start planning on snackideas to take with me. i will be 5 weeks post op when I return to work, so would appreciate any and all snack ideas other than my Protein Drinks - don't get me wrong, I love the different Premier Protein and muscle milk flavors.... but just want something different. I would love to hear ALL Snacks, not just recent post op ones. Ideally these are just Snacks, but if they are a little bigger that's fine too, as I can consolidate them to make it 1 or 2 snacks Ive ordered small containers to hold snacks to get ready some suggestions I've read are tuna in the foil packs, hummus, almonds, Greek yogurt, edamame..... Homemade P3* with raw almonds, cheddar, sliced turkey 5. Homemade P3* with raw almonds, Monterey jack, sliced black forest ham, blueberries 6. Homemade P3* with cubed chicken, cashews and jalapeno jack 7. berries (blueberries, raspberries, strawberries) and Greek Yogurt or Cottage Cheese or Low Carb Heavy Whipping Cream** 8. Pickles 9. Sliced cucumber with lime juice and a bit of salt or other spice...Also good with hummus or avocado guac *If you don't want to make your own P3s (cheaper), you can purchase them from the stores. I love many of the combinations and pairings. Tat19808 35 Posted October 16, 2017 I am not sure who make them but they are high Protein snack packs- usually include a meat, cheese and some sort of fruit - I've seen yogurt covered blueberries, dark chocolate covered things..... think of it as a Lunchable for protein.... the ones I've seen are about 15-18 G protein per pack. Ideally, these are just small containers that are leftovers from the previous night's/week of dinners. I'm only 5 weeks out from gastric bypass and I am a little stressed, I ate potato Soup and dumped and I've somehow put on 5lbs?! How many calories are gastric bypass pt's suppose to get? I'm 6 months post op, and I didn't experiment with added sugars until probably the 4 month mark. I was leery at first to dump. But I've found that if I keep it around 5 grams per serving, I'm OK. This means, I can have a taste of something---without getting sick/dumping. However, it does open a gateway to "testing the limits". Generally speaking, I just steer clear unless its something like the snack packs. I do eat SF, or "Carb Smart" ice cream bars on occasion as well. Besides the pre op diet, and the food progression stages, I feel like my diet is normal. I just eat less. It's something I can maintain for a lifetime.
