I feel like shooting my neighbor.

Recommended Posts

Oh you know what? Dammit, I shouldn't get started.

And, yes, I'm overreacting, but this bugs the shit out of me. We have a neighbor who wants us to sell him a portion of our yard. Our backyard borders his side yard (if you look out our back door, you're seeing the side of his house). He wants to do construction to the back of his house, but doesn't want to pay extra for a truck to pump the concrete over his house. He doesn't have enough clearance between the side of his house and our fence for the truck to fit. So instead he wants to pay us $1000, and for this we are to cut an angle from about halfway into our yard to the right-hand corner, tear down the fence (cedar, and cost over $4500k to put up 6 years ago, not to mention the labor of treating/staining it, etc.), and then rebuild the fence where needed. Umm - HELL NO.

And we have told him this. (I forgot to mention that our property line kind of makes a pie slice with his front yard, but we didn't want to run our fence up to the sidewalk and just leave him with a V shaped side yard, so we "donated" him some land and just told the fencing guys to run it on a straight line... I can't explain well, see graphic below.) But every time we're outside, he interrupts what we're doing and basically starts begging us to do this again, tells us we're being unreasonable, and that "good neighbors" would do it. Well we're not good neighbors, and neither is he! Let's not even mention that the guy, in the 5ish years he has lived there, only spoke to us two or three times before this became an issue.

He has one of those cats that runs wherever it wants, craps wherever it wants, has pissed on my bushes and killed them, etc. We've gotten home and found it curled up on DH's truck, our front step, our firewood pile... you name it. It gets in our yard and craps, climbs on our deck and craps and pisses on things... I HATE CATS.

Our dog is very property-protective. He'll bark if he sees something outside the fence, but goes nuts if something is inside. So all of this drives our dog ape shit. I'm seriously one step away from setting a trap for his cat, and then taking it to a pound like 3 states away. As a matter of fact, we told him that our dog gets REALLY agitated by the cat, told him our dog tries to go after the cat, and asked him to please please please try and keep it out of our yard. Please. Please. We've asked him that 6 times. He says, "It's an outdoor cat, what do you want me to do?" The last time we asked, that same night we let our dog out to do his business and hear this horrible yelping (which is the sound our dog makes when somethings he doesn't like is on his turf), and go running outside just in time to see the cat in our yard, swatting at the dog, jumping over the fence, and our dog is going after the cat and crashes into the fence. Oddly enough, he's limping the next morning and ended up needing a $4k surgery on his leg.

And this guy thinks I'm going to sell him my land for any amount of money, let alone $1k including all fence reconstruction costs??? LOLOLOL! CRY CRY CRY!

Here's the graphic I mentioned. The lower box is our house, the upper box is his. Black dotted line is our property line, gray dotted line is where our fence is, and red dotted line is what he wants us to do.

Cool, I owe you guys for the free therapy!

Easy tell him if he drops the whole stupid idea you wont sue him for the 4000$ vets bill.

Dunno about your city but ours has laws against outdoor cats. If you have a cat and its outside they can and just might haul it to the pound. No matter if its collared/ID'd or what.

Our next door neighbour is the neighbourhood drunk and crazy man. He drilled holes in two of my husband's tires and because we didn't actually see him doing it we can't charge him. The truck had to be towed, tires and rims replaced and my husband missed two days of work, one of them a Sunday when he would have made double time. This cost us a lot of money. The guy has also threatened to kill my tenant's aged cat, has called her a sack of shit and other insults, and verbally abused my sweet little Greek neighbour when she was working on my side of our shared front garden. He has also caused us to spend close to five thousand on a security system including video cameras.

And he has noisy dogs which he uses to good effect by bringing them outside and encouraging them to bark at us whenever we are outside trying to enjoy our property. He truly is the Neighbour From Hell!!!!

I live next door to an apartment buidling and there isnt much room in between my house and the building. the LOVELY peopel in the apartment right outside of my living room window have a puppy that when they go out they lock in the bathroom and the thing does nothing but yap the entire time. of course the bathroom window is right near the living room window so that all I hear all night. but what is even better is when the dog is not barking all the couple does is argue!!!!

Now i dont have a problem with dogs - the women downstairs from us has 2 and the neighbors on the other side also have 2 and they only bark when they see someone they dont know or something like that.

Lauren,

You could call the cops on your neighbor... the cops wont tell her who called to complain, only that there was a complaint and she needs to keep it down.

I know this, because I called on my neighbor once. I had just moved into this place and the very first Saturday morning at 8am she starts BLASTING her music. Seriously, it sounded like the speakers were in MY living room. I tried to bang on her door, but she couldn't hear it. The cops show up and finally manage to get her attention and tell her she has to keep it down. I called on her probably half a dozen other times too. The one time she tried to talk to me about it, in the same breath as telling me that I should just come knock on her door (because it worked so well the first time), she told me that she'd send her "baby daddy" after me if I caused her any trouble. Yay for not living near her anymore!

Wheetsin... wow... I think you could get the cat taken into a shelter. There are laws in more and more places about 'stray' cats. Outdoor cats are basically stray, even if they go to the same food bowl every night. I also second the idea of telling him to drop the idea that you're going to 'sell' your land to him or you'll go after him for the damage done to your dog. It's pretty gracious of you that you didn't hold him responsible for it thus far.

Our neighbors have a son who has one of those POS cars that go *bvoom bvoom bvoom* with bass... so much so that you hear the car rattling a hell of a lot more than you hear any beat. And he works a late shift somewhere, so we hear him around 2:45am.

I came to the realization anyone with the annoying bass woofer things in their car, ALL WORK NIGHT SHIFTS.

When we lived in New Mexico, our neighbors everynight around 2am they came in with the noise.. and it would wake me up. I would get so mad, I couldn't wait to move.

Now in our new neighborhood, they just built a house next door. Same damn thing, around 3am now. Wakes me up every night.

And one thing I don't understand, it's not like they pull up and go in the house. It's like they sit there every night for 5 minutes, so the neighborhood knows they're home. I hate them for that stuff, it's when I go "How friggin selfish are these people." THEY KNOW it's loud. THEY KNOW people are sleeping. Get some decency.

:)

guy in my neighborhood killed a couple of my cats and other peoples cats. He had 4-5 purebred champion dachshunds, who also happened to just love fresh salmon soaked in antifreeze...he got the message

Our neighbours are all feral, we really really HAVE to move next year. This has become a really high rental area, where in Australia its still more common to own your own house. So the houses have all gotten run down, the gardens gone to ruins, etc and its full of feral people.

But anyway, next door has a roofing business and the truck comes delivering crap at 4.30 am, that wakes us up. Over the road she delivers local newspapers so they get delivered at sparrow fart once a week too. Then we have this weird guy next to them who spends his life standing out the front of his house staring at us.

But overall, I'd say its US who are the bad neighbours, lol. The amount of screaming, crying, and kids fighting that comes out of our house, roflmao! they must think someones being MURDERED in here.

Oh, but the kid that climbs over the back fence and lets himself into our house (he's 5) gives me the shits too.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
