My October 16 sleevers are you ready??!!

Recommended Posts

Surgery was at 7:30 and was out of recovery in my room by noon. Only hit the pain pump in recovery but more because my back really hurt. No pain and I was up and walking regularly. No sleep to speak of. Tuesday started Clear Liquids with no problem and was discharged by 1:30pm. Came home and mostly drank Water and slept. Up today and I feel fine started full liquids and supplements. Well on my Fluid and Protein goals, no pain, no nausea, no vomiting. So far, so good. My support network says I'll have bad days, and I don't doubt that, but I'm off to a good start

Anyone else's stomach sound like there's a wookie in there after having one of the Protein Shakes? Thinking of naming my stomach Chewbacca.

I've got some abdominal pain too. Feels like it's mostly muscular though. The incisions don't hurt.

My surgery went well. I don't feel like I'm having wound pain. I did start yesterday with cramping, sometimes when drinking and then sometimes without intake. My surgery was at 715 and I was in my room around noon. Came home yesterday morning. Wasn't prepared for the extreme nausea I had when I woke up from anesthesia.

It's exactly a week to the moment that my anaesthetic was being set up prior to my operation. (It's 7:50am in eastern Australia on Thursday 19th.)

I have had all six days since with intakes of 1785mL to 2250mL (seven to nine standard cups/tumblers) ... made up of Water to make Soups, Protein Shakes and mix up cordials as well as tea and bottled water.

I'm finding this okay but I suspect I could move a bit higher.

I have my first scheduled visit post-op with counsellor (9am), dietitian (9:45am) and surgeon (10:30am) next Monday (23rd Oct) at the weight-loss clinic. I'm sure they'll discuss my diet diary and give ongoing advice.

My second scheduled visit was booked yesterday for Monday 6th Nov.

Wow I'm not even getting half of that! Have you had any cramping?

Me either Maryg, it's been a struggle getting my fluids, at least the nausea is gone. The pain is so bad, but everyone says the pain will pass. Looking forward to then.

Is your pain like cramping?

Yes, a sharpe cramp like pain at my breast bone and through to my back, it hurts so bad I don't want to take in any liquids. Even the slightest anout of Water will do it, and then it comes in waves, I'm pretty miserable right now.

Yes, I do too, my surgery was Oct. 16 at 7:30 I was fine in the hospital, but last night the pain and nausea were rough. I called my doctor and he said because I was

It sounds like we're both going through the same thing. I feel like I would be feeling great if not for the cramping.

Yes, I think so too, I just took some pain meds and I feel a little better. Everyone I've been talking to tells me this will pass and it will get better.

You guys will do great!! 5 days post op and I don't regret my decision one bit. I highly recommend you take a heating pad with you for your back!! It was so comforting for me after surgery [emoji4] Good luck everyone!

Sleeved 10/10/17 • HW 280 (3/1/17) • SW 259 (10/10) • GW 180 (TBD)

I second the heating pad! I didn’t use mine until I got home but I wish I would have brought it with me! They’re a life saver. Placing the warmth over your tummy helps with reflux and aids digestion

Were you asking me? Or was your comment for someone above me?

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
