Mr Edwards 25 Posted October 16, 2017 the way I have seen it..ur not gonna find any doctor to tell I my it's ok... u may feel drunk fast ...and u most likely will blow over on a breathalyzer dinner.. and for a longer period of time... the sugars may make u dump...the carbonization may give u gas .. as far as I know.. those are common considerations.. 1 jackie.lowson@hotmail.com reacted to this
Sadiebug 206 Posted October 16, 2017 I had my first drink about 6 months after surgery - and in full transparency my surgeon recommends waiting at least a year so I was not following their guidelines! I had a vodka based mixed drink, tried to pick one without many 'mixers' to keep the sugar low. My experience was that after 1-2 sips I felt very tipsy. I sipped on that one drink for about an hour and didn't finish it - and I was hammered. It was as if I had 3-4 of that same drink (pre-surgery). So yes, it hits you very hard very fast. The other part I discovered was that it felt good... I have struggled with food addiction my whole life and now I don't have food to rely on - so the fact that the alcohol made me feel so happy so quickly scared the crap out of me. Transfer addiction is a very real thing. Now I drink very rarely (once every month or two) and I always make sure I have someone responsible with me and I limit it to one drink. 2 blg_mn2924 and jackie.lowson@hotmail.com reacted to this

blondie66 271 Posted October 23, 2017 I waited 8 months to start drinking again and avoided anything carbonated for 2 years.
