KaiserKid 81 Posted October 14, 2017 I'm 11 months out from my sleeve. The past week I've been following a strict Keto diet but today I broke down. I was stressed out and I ate 3/4 a bacon egg and cheese sandwich. I've never done that since surgery and I'm so mad that I let myself emotionally eat. Ugh. Have I lost restriction? I'm so surprised by how much I was able to eat.
Walter.Sobchak 978 Posted October 14, 2017 My surgeon said you would have to repeatedly overeat to stretch your pouch. One time shouldn't be a big deal. 3 jennypenny1998, Angel11 and Nataliesmom reacted to this
DaleCruse 756 Posted October 14, 2017 You should be fine. Just don't make a habit of doing this. Good luck! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
Introversion 1,876 Posted October 14, 2017 No, you haven't lost restriction. Unless your stomach has stretched to the preoperative 40+ ounce capacity and you can easily accommodate 10 bacon/egg sandwiches at one sitting, your restriction is still there. People seem to be under the impression that the immediate post-op phase in which their tight, swollen sleeves allow them to become full off 3 to 5 bites of food lasts forever. Nope...the stomach continually relaxes and accommodates more food over the years. Per bariatric surgeon Dr. Matthew Weiner's videos, this is a normal phenomenon. By 3 to 5 years out you can expect to accommodate three-fourths to 1 entire plate of food (8 to 12 ounces). But just because you can eat this much doesn't mean you should. Good luck to you. 4 ProudGrammy, Angel11, jennypenny1998 and 1 other reacted to this

Your still ok I wouldn't be worried Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app 1 cynthiap05 reacted to this

[emoji4]Ugh I can't wait for this honestly. As long as you eat healthy and know your body you can consume a plate full of nutritious food and still lose weight. I can't even eat food yet I'm still on liquids 10 days post op. Sent from my SM-G935T using BariatricPal mobile app 1 blondetbird reacted to this

I could do 4 hot and spicy mcchicken and 4 mcdoubles. Hence why I was 430 pounds.

No, what happened is simply a common thing that is to expected when following a strict diet and has nothing to do with losing restriction or WLS.
Sullie06 1,013 Posted October 16, 2017 I've noticed I can eat more in the past month than I could before. Still not a whole sandwich, where I could eat 2 whole ones before, but pretty close if that's all I'm eating. I think it's just a natural part of the process as you move out from surgery. JT2002TJ 170 Posted October 16, 2017 As others have said, that isn't much. I'm still in the small sleeve phase, but I used to eat a 20 piece nuggets + large fries and was good (not stuffed). I can't even imagine that now that I get full off of one hard boiled egg. 1 Angel11 reacted to this
