I'm 3 weeks post op from having gastric sleeve surgery. I've lost a total of 40 pounds, but now I'm becoming malnourished and really could use some advice how do you get enough Water and Protein when it's hard to force it down my body just doesn't want it?! Advice please and thank you

I'm feeling the same way! I'm 6 days away from 1 month post op and today I made some skirt steak with spinach and I couldn't eat it! The meat didn't taste the same to me and I have been very sensitive to dairy everything makes me go to the bathroom like 3-4 time a day [emoji22]

Yes same here I was suppose to be on soft foods but now my doctor put me back on liquids because I wasent doing well and kept me off work for almost fainting and being malnourished I feel worse then I did when I was heavier.

Sorry to hear that! I do know the feeling, try to keep yourself hydrated keep sipping your Water, and Protein Shake, yogurt, and broth! Unfortunately I had a follow-up appointment today and my DR said to stay away from all dairy for now no milk, no yogurt, cheese etc... For about a WK to see if my bathroom visit calm down! It's pretty annoying cause I want to eat but everything gives me a stomach and the runs! My doc also told me I would need to get a good amount of Protein otherwise I will lose weight the wrong way which is muscles and I will age faster!

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
