Hello Fello Eights,

I thought I was doing fine. Had band placed 8/16. Went well. Went to post op appt on 9/6. Had staples removed and the big ok to return to work. Talked to my doctor about my slowly returning hunger and when I could get my first fill, he said 6 weeks. So my first fill was to be on 10/22 but the doctors office called me today to cancel my appointment for 10/22 and make another one. (doctor schedule changed) The soonest they have for me is NOVEMBER 12. I AM STARVING TO DEATH!!!!!!

I am going nuts and am at the end of my rope. How can you use this tool if you can not get it to work. Does anyone have any suggestions? Thank you all for being here when we need it most. :cry

Patience!!!!

I had to wait 2 months for my first fill, and 1 month between each fill. Ends up my port flipped around, so every fill I got did NOT DO ANYTHING (It was not going in). So I was extremely frustrated month to month, knowing I had to wait a whole 30 days to get yet another fill. I didn't get my restriction till Sept. and I was banded in April. I know you're frustrated, but hang in there!!!

I was like that for almost three months. It took another fill after that before I couldn't eat as much. Hang in there, it will get better. Until then, satisfy your hunger, you're going to go crazy if you don't.

A FLIPPED port? That's an awful thought. My first two fills aren't restricting much. I haven't been under a fluroscope (sp?), so I just don't know what's going on. At this point, I have total trust in my doc and his staff, but it doesn't keep me from worrying if everything is as it should be.

took me four fills and nearly 4cc's in my 4cc band to hit my sweet spot! and lordy did I hit it...............Banded in April and didn't hit my sweet spot til August! It can be frustration.. my thought is for you to get into diet mode and work your plan while waiting for restriction

Thanks so much to all the non-Crazy Ates for stopping by to encourage us! I truly value your experience! Stonersmom--I am so sorry that you are feeling the way you are. What a dissappointment! The only advice I have is to do what I try to do....scare yourself into believing that if you overeat or eat too much then you will throw up all over yourself! Yes, I know....not exactly a good method! But, at this point...it's what is working for me. My fill is scheduled for 10/22 and I am so looking forward to it......if only to mentally put more fear into me!! LOL!!! Hang in there.......please!!!!!

Hang in there Stonersmom! I just had my first fill on Monday and I still am feeling hungry. I have just put myself on a weight watchers type diet until I can get another fill. Try eating really slowly. Also I have increased my Water intake before I eat. If you are still hungry try low calorie, healthy Snacks but don't go into starvation mode, it will slow down your weight loss. We can do this Crazy 8's! We have to just trust the process. Good Luck.

Thanks guys. I was really looking forward to my first fill. I guess I wanted to vent a little. I will keep up with my band rules and hang in there.

Thanks bunches.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
