cindyRH 39 Posted October 12, 2017 Anyone came off their cpap due to weight reduction?
DK 39 Posted October 12, 2017 Not yet. I'm hoping to get off mine. I really don't like it. My surgery date is October 25th. Finding out that I needed a CPAP machine is one of my major motivations to get the surgery.Sent from my Lenovo YT3-X90F using BariatricPal mobile app 2 cindyRH and CBBP reacted to this

cindyRH 39 Posted October 12, 2017 Oh no! My surgery just last week but I was hoping that once I dropped some weight I would be able to come off of my cpap. I am still hoping. 😄 3 Apple203, ProudGrammy and Nataliesmom reacted to this
Apple203 1,314 Posted October 12, 2017 Bummer, proudgrammy. I just got word that I need CPAP. Surgery isn't for a few more months, I am also really hoping its not a permanent thing. Oh well, at least I'll get a good night's sleep! 1 ProudGrammy reacted to this
laney 172 Posted October 12, 2017 I had my sleeve surgery a year ago and in May had a new sleep study. I was told at this point for me it is genetic and I will be on the CPAP. I am down 84 pounds. My Dr said most do come off it after they loose a lot of weight. 1 Christy P reacted to this

BunnyJean 123 Posted October 13, 2017 I have mild sleep apnea and sleep study figures I can get off it once I lose a bit. I don't honestly care, I'm taking myself off it within 2 weeks after my surgery. I HATE IT. 1 jcb123 reacted to this
gelyscomet 7 Posted October 13, 2017 Had surgery 10/03/17, still using CPAP, tried not using it a few nights after surgery, but woke up with headache, I'll use it till my primary tells me I won't need it, hopefully when I lose most of my weight. A friend of mine after full recovery overcame sleep apnea, asthma, diabetes, and HBP, so I have hope. 1 CBBP reacted to this

It makes me feel worse the next day rather than better. I am returning it once surgery is over. I just am making sure they don't make me bring it to the hospital with me and then if I tell them I don't have it anymore I worry they may end up cancelling my surgery so I'm hanging onto it just in case. My surgery is 10/24. 1 BunnyJean reacted to this

My surgery is 10/24. My surgery was just scheduled today for Nov 8th. I need to use mine because my insurance "rents" it and I need to be compliant with it or I will have to pay for it. Starting Jan 1 I would need to rent it myself for $80/month. I said NO WAY IN HECK. As soon as I can bring it back I will. I will talk to my nurse who I will meet with like the week before surgery. I will ask if I truly need to bring it to hospital. If I do, I do. But yup after that. Last night I didn't wear it. I was extremely tired and went to bed late due to work and I said...screw this LOL I will be 100% compliant with everything else. And I'll probably be compliant with the capap from now on too. Last night was my rebel moment hahahaha
cindyRH 39 Posted October 13, 2017 I was told at hospital that if I had forgotten my cpap they would supplied one for me. They make you use it.

jenngetsthin 61 Posted October 13, 2017 (edited) I'm pre-op but was diagnosed with mild sleep apnea a little over a year ago. I hate wearing the cpap. But I get headaches if I don't wear it. My doc said most patients who lose 20% of their weight stop having apnea so I'm hoping and praying that's the case for me.
