mdicurn 0 Posted October 17, 2007 I am a little over a month post op and I have not had a fill. However, I swear that if I go to long without eating I can feel something. It is like a sticking sensation in the back of my throat and some chest discomfort. I have seen this sensation mentioned in relation to overeating, eating too fast, PB'ng or pre-pb'ing. But I have never see in mentioned when there is nothing in your stomach. Sometimes burping helps relieve it, but it seems to come back afterwards. I do have a history of reflux and I am taking Prevacid, but this does not feel like reflux. I was just wondering if anyone else had this experience before I call my surgeon. Thanks! Darragha 0 Posted October 17, 2007 When my belly is making beautiful music, I swear, at times, I can feel "my band."
M Taylor 0 Posted October 17, 2007 This is exactly the feeling I've been having and was also wondering whether or not to call my surgeon as the pressure in my chest started to get pretty intense, but I found that sipping some warm broth helps to aleviate it. mdicurn 0 Posted October 18, 2007 Thanks for commiserating! I honestly think that it is related to gas pressure under the band, pushing up on it. I don't feel it after I eat, only when it has been too long between meals - which happens frequently when I am at work. I guess I am going to have to invest in some Protein Bars to carry in my pocket.
jamietindall19 0 Posted October 19, 2007 i def feel my band not only do i feel it under the skin i also feel it between my chest almost like a reflux feeling ithink it gets better though it has for me so far lets hope!
cQQlgirl 0 Posted October 19, 2007 I have that feeling and its like somethings stuck. I take it to mean that my band is there and making its presence known! I don't feel hunger but when I haven't eaten (drank, should I say), I feel the pressure get a little bit more intense. I'm able to get everything down that I need to so I'm not worried about it. Jachut 487 Posted October 19, 2007 Yes, I had some strange feelings like that early on but your body does settle and you get used to it and it goes away. Now however, real hunger, when you're stomach is growling, that's quite painful for me. I start to get cramps, really bad ones. I have to have emergency food in my bag because I have to eat right NOW or I'll be writhing in pain.

I think these are my first experiences with real hunger (going past just simple "I think I am hungry" to "I am starving!") since I was banded. I bought some Protein bars to keep in my scrubs for times when a sit down meal is not going to be a possibility. We shall see if that helps.
