I am new to the board - have surgery scheduled for November 13, 2007 - have low bmi of 31 but major health issues - so am candiate - will the weight loss be slower than if I had a higher BMI if I follow the rules and exercise?:)

The smaller you are, whether using the lap band or not, the slower you will lose weight, it's just the way the body works the closer it gets to it's normal weight.

I'm guessing that of the five people who viewed your post, none started off with such a low BMI so they couldn't offer you the thoughtful reply that you deserve. Give it some time--a starting BMI of 31 is very rare.
