People noticed fairly quickly, about 50 lbs in for me, which took about 2 mos to lose. The first area was definitely my upper body - face/shouders.

We have similar stats. I was 382 when banded and I'm now around 235. Unfortunately although my thighs & stomach have definitely shrunk a lot, from my bellybutton to my knees is the most resistant area of my body (this is common). I have not shrunk proportionately. And my skin is not doing me any favors.

Here is the last round of progress pics I posted. You can tell that I'm still larger in the hips and butt. The thighs don't show in that outfit, but they're still big too.

Oh - my hands. That was another area where people commented early on. I still get "God your hands look so boney!"

My legs and now it's coming off my face/neck area - thank goodness.

My arms/shoulders/pits and all...those are my worst.

I've lost 5 lbs; one clothing size and 2 underwear sizes. I guess a little 5 lbs made that much of a difference. I was banded 7/26; first fill 3 weeks later; second fill 3 weeks after that. Going for my third fill next week. No restriction yet however.

Susan, how much do you have to lose? Be patient with the fills, it will happen. Oh boy, will it ever happen. :)

For ppl with starting weights like mine or the OP's, it takes a bit more. I think my first size took about 40 lbs. Now with 50ish lbs to lose, a size is about 15 - 20 lbs.

I still can't tell when I look at myself, but I had a 10-day liquid pre-op diet, and people were noticing it in my face even before surgery. Then after about 30 lbs, I started getting comments about my neck and shoulders.

Actually, I'm not worried about the fills and neither is my doctor. He applauds that I am not freaking out about my "only" five pounds. I'd like to lose 60 lbs in a year.

I think 5 lbs is great! I think 1 lb would be great! Anything that's not gaining is pretty damn good in my book. :)

I lost in my thighs first, my stomach is the slowest area for me. I have now lost 50lbs and I am down 4 sizes and the only ppl that say anything are family! It drives me nuts.

My face within 4 days of surgery and now 19 days post-op everyone is commenting on the drastic change in my face and abdominal area. I can tell because size 42 pants which were snug on me 3 weeks ago fall off of me without a belt to hold them up. I put on a pair of size 36 jeans 4 days ago...albeit they were a TAD tight in the waist. :)

I've only lost 20 so far, but I can feel it in my double chin area. When I look down to do something, I don't feel this big mound of flesh trying to find someplace to spread.

I also lose it in the face first. I've lost 46 lbs. and the only person who really says anything is my husband. I think the reason most people don't seem to notice is because about a year before my surgery I had lost this much weight on weight watchers. This time last year I weighed pretty much what I weigh right now. I decided to get the surgery and I gained everything back. During the time I was gaining I tried to avoid people as much as possible. I was ashamed at gaining the weight back. So I don't really know what people think. They might think I haven't lost anything at all from surgery. It is nice to fit back into my clothes from last year, but in a way I feel like I'm just getting started.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
