I was told that it has something to do with a gland called the Vargus (I think) it gets pushed on and that causes the hiccups ETC. I belong to 2or 3 other groups and it still amazes me at how many people have this going on. At least we know we aren't crazy. Right

Vagus nerve! I know three other people who got RNY and we all have runny noses now. I get the hiccups sometimes, but I always have to have a box of tissues while I eat, haha.

I get hiccups when full as well.

I have heard red hair is actually common in people with Vitamin D deficiency and as people age - it happens noticeably in India where they usually would have dark hair and it grows in red.

Oh that's interesting! I had Vitamin D deficiency for years and years and it's finally now normal thanks to crazy amounts of supplementation. I wonder if it finally caught up with me!

When I'm lying down I can feel a weird bump at my diaphragm, between the ribs. I don't know if it's always been there and I just haven't felt it for so long or something new!!! I also think that my pee smells funny/different. Hmmmm

I am 5 weeks post surgery with the sleeve. I do not feel full - I burp, sneeze and my nose runs. That is my new full - when I burp put the fork down...

You're probably in ketosis. I couldn't stand the smell of my urine the first few months. Now that my weight loss has slowed down, it's more tolerable. I guess that's a bad thing.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
