VickiT 0 Posted October 17, 2007 I'm schedule to be banded in 6 days. I've been going to True Results and they've provided information about the band and what to expect. They just began offering the actual surgery in the town where I live. Which makes things a lot easier. I have not met the doctor yet, expect to do that the day before surgery. Is this typical? In addition to a cursory check up, stress and sleep test, I've not been asked for anything else. Is this also typical? I'm a bit nervous about the procedure, I wonder if I should be doing something else. I'm financing the procedure, they seem to just be taking my word, and have not asked for any verification. Is all of this typical? I need some reassurance. thanks:confused::help:
new_me_2008 1 Posted October 17, 2007 I was very happy with their 'hands off ' approach. Once we determined that insurance would not pay (due to lower BMI) then we were off and running, no useless processes just needed to satisfy the insurance people. I did alot of research on my own, read the lap band book they provided and then met with the surgeon (1 week prior to surgery) It has been a little over a week and I feel amazing. Wish I had done it sooner.
VickiT 0 Posted October 17, 2007 :cool:Thank you so much for your response. I feel better. Frankly, I like the hands off approach. Relatively speaking I'm in good health, have had surgeries in the past, so I know what to expect. I have mentally prepared for this and I'm ready. I just don't want to be told at the last minute that I failed to do something. I have the support of my family. Although I have not mentioned any of this to my co-workers. They think I'm taking vacation next week. I'll probably tell them in December. Again, thanks.
Big As Life 0 Posted October 17, 2007 I was a self-pay and I had to do very little...I was not required to do all the things that you have to do when the insurance is paying..that was fine by me....I went in on Monday and told them I would self pay, two weeks later I had the band put on....I had dealt with the insurance co and been denied two years prior, so self pay was the only way I knew to go...
