I feel like it will never happen!

Recommended Posts

Is anybody else out there feel like I do? The surgery date will never get here, I've looked at so many pictures and wished it could be me, and damn I just don't think it's going to happen! I still have two dietary classes to finish and then they're supposed to schedule the surgery. Of course we're coming up to the holidays, so it my luck it'll be like next May! I'm getting discouraged!

I understand. I'm just starting the nutrition classes, so for me it will definitely be next May. I at first was dismayed about the wait, but I'm working on being Zen and really making the most of this time to address non-hunger and binge eating and get myself into as good physical shape as I possibly can (given that I have some mobility challenges due to my weight) so that I will heal well from the surgery, But I totally feel you. The day will come! :)

Hi bright faith! I love your name! I have purchased books that I'm getting ready to read and I know that I should take this time to just chill out, but I'm ready in my head and I know that my insurance doesn't ask me to go through all of these hoops that they're asking me to go through. I just want to get it done. I think I need to find a buddy that I can go through this with so that we can encourage each other on the bad days because usually I'm very up but today is not that day!

It won't be May - you will be scheduled before that!!! Relax. Just visualize yourself in one year and how different life will be and it will go fast. I started at the end of April and surgery is in two weeks, at first it seemed long but honestly it has went fast.

That's the whole thing, I just wanted to be at goal. My husband and I are going to make our once-in-a-lifetime only trip to Europe once I hit goal and see beautiful Ireland and London Paris and Edinburgh. I just want my life to begin!

I feel the same way -- the approval process sure requires a lot of patience!

Thank you, celticNgel! I hear you, and I think the visualization advice above is good advice. And don't wait for your life to start until you have the surgery! You are alive right NOW, no matter what your size. Plan that trip to Europe, go outside and smell the fresh air, go out with a friend or your husband--not just as a distraction but because you are worth it, :)

Best of luck to you. Hopefully your wait won't be that long.

I have a bit of a wait as well. After going through the process and getting approval from my insurance, I found out that I had to wait another 5 months in order to get cardiac clearance. My surgery is now scheduled for early January. The first couple of months have gone by kind of slow but I'm sure the holidays will fly by.

Mine is in 29 days, and it feels like a lifetime of waiting.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
