Sleeve pain left side

Recommended Posts

Here's my story with my gastric sleeve pain if any1 can help. I'm still in intermittent gastric cramping pain on the left side under the rib cage. I had my gallbladder removed. I'm still in pain and wonder if this could be because of the stomach muscle. Sometimes I regret having the surgery and I was wondering if this sounds familiar to anyone.

Ugh! I woke up today with the exact same feeling! It's like I have a constant stitch under my rib cage/gut area on the left. It helps if I apply pressure but crikey it hurts!
I'm thinking it might be a few things (since I also have no gallbladder and it's located on the right side).
1. A leak - I'm 4 days out and I caved and made a scrambled egg last night which I chewed on like there was no tomorrow but I also added a tiny amount of Parmesan to get some flavour. Have I over done it and dropped a staple?
2 - gas - is it just a pocket of stuck gas from sleeping overnight?
3 - adhesions....surely they wouldn't have formed so quickly already, but also a possibility

If it doesn't ease by tomorrow I'll be calling the surgeons office for some advice. Aside from this pinching pain I actually feel fabulous. My port sites are fine, I've been tolerating my liquids (and the cheeky egg!) no vomiting, nothing that would suggest I have any complication. I even went out yesterday and clocked my 10k steps.

Super frustrating! I don't have time for complications! Haha!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
