Started my pre op liquid diet

Recommended Posts

Hi everybody. I started my pre op liquid diet and I’m 4 days in. It’s not easy. I feel lightheaded and have no energy. I try to keep busy as much as possible. I drink Protein Shakes, Jello sf, O% fat Greek yogurt and homemade Soups.

I can eat puréed soups as well right? Like broccoli Soup or pumpkin soup.

Why are all pre op diets so different? Some can eat lean meats or fish. Would it be really bad if I just ate some cooked tuna or chicken?

Btw my surgery date is Oct 12

did you by your shakes from your surgeon's office or did you just go to the store?

I bought in the GNC store. I will have my operation in Dubai as I live in the Middle East. We can’t get all the Bariatric items here.

I think a had Protein shakes... check with your Dr if you can at least have protein powder... will help to fill you in. As you noted, try to keep yourself busy and sleep more... It is like every habit.. takes a while to adapt... best of luck in your bid day!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
